October is National Seafood Month and our Seafood Manager, Tim Novak, is proud to present Fluke fillet flounder. These mild, light fillets can be used in most seafood recipes. They can be baked, pan fried and sautéed and will absorb the flavor of any seasoning. Fluke flounder is a winter species and is usually only available during the month of October. “Oysters are also available at our store,” says Tim, We will have fresh, in-shell Cape May Salt Oysters from Cape May, New Jersey, along with a large meaty variety of out-of-shell oysters from Washington State which are excellent for frying, stewing and oyster stuffing.”
Tim is very proud of the seafood department. All seafood is hand picked and hand-cut bringing the best available seafood fresh from the market daily to our customers. We receive deliveries 6 days a week to bring you the best quality and freshest seafood available.
What does Tim like the best about his job? “Comments from my customers,” says Tim. Sometimes customers are a little timid and reluctant to try different types of seafood, but with some encouragement and guidance on how to prepare it, they usually try new things. Then wow, I love it when a customer comes in on the following day and tells me about the great experience that they had with their meal the previous night. It’s encouraging. Sometimes they even try new things on their own and let me know of the technique and I pass it on to other shoppers. There are so many new & great things that you can do with seafood and I keep learning every day.”
